presencia humana desde el Paleolítico y su continuidad du-
rante la colonización romano e hispano-musulmana. Entre
los más destacados están Fuente de Ramos y el Almendral, o
el antiguo asentamiento romano de Cerro Castelar y los
Marciagos. En los alrededores se puede visitar también la in-
teresante aldea de Pozo Amargo, con las ruinas de su
Castillo. De la localidad parte la Vía Verde de la Sierra, un
marco ideal para practicar senderismo, cicloturismo y mar-
chas a caballo, o simplemente descansar. Esta ruta transcurre

por las sendas verdes que discurren por el antiguo trazado
ferroviario Jerez-Almargen, siendo transitables 35 kilóme-
tros que unen las poblaciones de Puerto Serrano y Olvera.

kirts of the town of Puerto Serrano, a Cadiz
town with numerous archaeological sites attesting to the
presence of humans in the area since the Palaeolithic and
then during the period of Roman and Hispanic-Muslim co-
lonisation. The most noteworthy sites are Fuente de Ramos
and El Almendral, or the ancient Roman settlements of
Cerro Castelar and Los Marciagos. In the surrounding
area, you can also visit the interesting hamlet of Pozo
Amargo, with its ruined Castle. The Vía Verde de la Sierra
route starts at Puerto Serrano, the ideal setting to enjoy hi-
king, cycle tourism or horse riding, or simply to relax. This
route follows the green path running along the old Jerez-
Almargen railway track, of which 35 km between Puerto
Serrano and Olvera are walkable.

Serrano. Das zu Cádiz gehörende Dorf besitzt zahlreiche
archäologische Fundstätten, die die Existenz menschlicher
Siedlungen seit der Altsteinzeit und ihr Weiterbestehen
während der römischen und spanisch-maurischen
Kolonisation bestätigen. Zu den bedeutendsten Fundorten
gehören Fuente de Ramos und El Almendral, sowie die
ehemalige Römersiedlung von Cerro Castelar und Los
Marciagos. In der Umgebung ist auch das interessante
Dorf Pozo Amargo mit seinen Burgruinen zu sehen. Von
Puerto Serrano geht die Vía Verde de la Sierra ab, ein her-
vorragender Naturrahmen zum Wandern, Rad fahren,
Reiten oder ganz einfach um sich zu erholen. Diese Route
durchkreuzt die grünen Pfade, die entlang der alten
Eisenbahnlinie Jerez-Almargen verlaufen. Die heute be-
gehbaren 35 Km verbinden die Ortschaften Puerto
Serrano und Olvera.
